Eckler is committed to ensuring our services are accessible and offer the same opportunity and benefit to all customers and employees. We are also committed to ensuring that our services are provided in a manner that respects the dignity and independence of people with disabilities.

The following abridged version of our Multi-Year Accessibility Plan outlines our approach to establishing accessible products, services, employment, and workplaces for persons with disabilities.

1 – Accessible Workplace Emergency Information

Eckler will provide employees with disabilities individualized emergency information in an accessible way, or with appropriate communications supports, upon request and documenting individual accommodation plans.

Status: Completed

2 – Training

Eckler will provide employee training that incorporates the requirements of accessibility standards and the Human Rights Code as it pertains to persons with disabilities. This training will be provided on an ongoing basis as policies change. Training records will be maintained, including the dates on which training was completed.

Requirement Date: January 1, 2015
Status: Completed > Ongoing as needed.

3 – Information and Communications – Accessible Formats and Communication
Supports

Eckler is committed to ensuring its communications meet the needs of persons with disabilities.

When requested, we will provide or arrange for publicly available information to be made available in accessible formats and/or with communication supports in a timely manner. Upon consultation with the person making the request, we provide the most suitable format or communication support.

Status – Completed

Further action: Training on how to create accessible documents and content is provided to those employees on an as-needed basis.

3.1 Information and Communications – Feedback Process

Eckler will provide processes for receiving and responding to feedback that are accessible to persons with disabilities. When requested, we will provide or arrange for publicly available information to be made available in accessible formats and/or with communication supports in a timely manner. Upon consultation with the person making the request, we provide the most suitable format or communication support.

3.2 Information and Communications – Websites and Web Content

Eckler will ensure that it’s new websites and web content published after January 1, 2012 conform with the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0, Level A.

Requirement Date – January 1, 2014
Status – Completed

Eckler will take the necessary steps to make its websites and web content published on those sites, conform with WCAG 2.0, Level AA (excluding success criteria 1.2.4 Captions (Live) and success criteria 1.2.5 Audio Descriptions (Pre-Recorded)).

4 – Employment

Eckler will follow fair and accessible employment practices, this includes:

  • Providing notification about available policies and accommodation for all applicants.
  • Providing suitable accommodation that takes into account the applicant’s accessibility needs due to disability.
  • Informing all employees of policies used to support employees with disabilities
  • Providing new employees with information regarding our policies for accommodating employees with disabilities.
  • Providing updated information to employees whenever there is a change to existing policies on the provision of job accommodations that take into account an employee’s accessibility needs due to disability.
  • Obtaining consent from an employee who requires individualized workplace emergency response information assistance to share the information with the person Eckler has designated to provide assistance to the employee(s).
  • Providing individual accommodation and return-to-work policies for employees who have been absent from work due to a disability.

5 – Public Spaces

Where applicable, Eckler will meet accessibility requirements when building or making major renovations to public spaces. We will incorporate accessibility features into the designs of our public spaces and will provide notice to clients and visitors if there is a temporary disruption to or unavailability of accessible supports.

6 – Ongoing Review

To ensure our policies and processes always meet the needs of people with disabilities, Eckler will review its plan every five years and will adjust or action as required.
