With more than 25 years of experience advising organizations across the region, Paul combines senior consulting leadership with in-house experience at a large national multi-employer pension plan. Having lived and worked in Fredericton for several years, he brings a deep understanding of New Brunswick’s pension and public policy environment. His expertise spans defined benefit valuation and administration, pension design and reform, funding policy development, multi-employer and shared risk arrangements, and pension issues arising in collective bargaining. Known for transforming complex actuarial and governance challenges into clear, practical advice, Paul has guided boards, trustees, employers, and labour unions toward sustainable, long-term solutions.

“We are delighted to welcome Paul back to Eckler,” says Ian Edelist, National Head of Employee Benefits Consulting, Canada (excluding Quebec). “His range of experience across plan designs and governance models—combined with his ability to communicate clearly and build alignment on challenging issues—will be a tremendous asset to our clients. His return reinforces our long-term commitment to organizations across Atlantic Canada.”

Paul previously worked with Eckler earlier in his career and returns with strong relationships and deep regional insight. A Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries and a graduate of Dalhousie University in mathematics and statistics, he is also active in the Halifax community through mentorship and volunteer roles.

“I’m excited to be returning to Eckler and contributing to the firm’s growth in Atlantic Canada—particularly in New Brunswick, where I’ve spent some of the most meaningful years of my career,” says Paul Lai Fatt. “I look forward to collaborating with clients and colleagues to develop retirement programs that are sustainable, clearly communicated, and built to support members over the long term.”
