Consulting Actuary (Pension)

Overview 

At Eckler, we know it’s our people who make us great at what we do. We are looking for a creative and results-driven Consulting Actuary to join our Pension practice. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is highly motivated with a fine eye for detail, can juggle multiples tasks and understands deadlines. The successful candidate will work with our consultants and analysts to deliver customized solutions to Eckler’s growing client base across Canada, which includes a wide array of plans ranging from traditional single employer pension plans (SEPPs) to multi-employer pension plans (MEPPs).

Responsibilities:  

  • Provides actuarial consulting service and senior analytical support to a wide range of clients;
  • Anticipates client issues, needs or concerns and proactively develops solutions to meet those needs;
  • Initiates or participates in new business development opportunities within the practice as well as cross selling other services that Eckler provides to its clients;
  • Manages client relationships for small to mid-sized accounts;
  • Make and / or assist in effective oral presentations to clients or prospects, as part of a team or individually;
  • Supervises, mentors and coaches junior staff.

What you offer: 

  • University degree in Mathematics, Actuarial Sciences, Statistics or related field;
  • FCIA designation or very near completion;
  • 5 – 10 years of progressive experience in a consulting environment;
  • Excellent client relationship skills;
  • An interest in, and aptitude for, business innovation and development;
  • Superior communication skills, both written and oral;
  • Must be a highly motivated, client service and team-oriented individual;
  • Detail and result-oriented and able to balance multiple priorities and work under tight deadlines;
  • Strong interpersonal skills, a positive attitude combined with a great willingness to contribute to the success of Eckler.
